Care Home brings the subject of dementia to Surrey

A small group of local business individuals, care workers, journalists and relatives of perspective residents came together at Kings Lodge Camberley to be given a virtual reality tour of what it is like to suffer from dementia.

Aura Care Living hosted the special tour as part of Dementia Awareness Week (14-20 May) at their new luxury care home – Kings Lodge, which is on Kings Ride.

“It was incredible to see people’s reactions,” said Aura’s Clinical Operations Managers, Jane Whittaker, “It’s one of the only ways to experience what it’s like to live with the disease on a day to day basis. And unfortunately it affects one in three of us.”

“Some people were genuinely frightened when going through the tour. We want to raise awareness and understanding of the condition before we open our doors to the home in July.”

Aura have also setup a show stall, imitating a bedroom in Kings Lodge, located at the centre of Camberley mall to assist in raising a funds for those wishing to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society.
