New retirement village and care home opens its doors to Gloucestershire
Stratton Court in Cirencester opens its doors to the public for a special weekend on the 16th, 17th and 18th of June.
The Aura care Living development in Stratton, Cirencester, is taking part in a national initiative to bring communities into care homes to have a better understanding of the work they do.
Thousands of care homes across the UK take part each year, welcoming the public and arranging events and activities that help to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities.
Peter Lloyd is the Director of Aura sales and said: “This is all about showing people what excellent care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of local communities, developing relationships across the generations.
“Although the village and homes are not open yet we are hoping to provide plenty of fun while showing people what we are doing here. We believe that this is a truly special retirement development that will open in December this year.”
This year the theme is friendship and the campaign has partnered up with The Big Lunch, which is the UK's annual get together for neighbours. Every year in June since the idea began in 2009; millions of people stop what they're doing and get together with neighbours in a nationwide act of community and friendship. In partnering with National Care Home Open Day in 2017, The Big Lunch is aiming to support care homes all over the country to open their doors and invite the community in.
